Before looking at the plot in Lion and the Jewel ,lets look
at the meaning of plot.
What is plot?
Answer :Plot is the patterned arrangement of events in a story. A plot (a simple plot) must have a Beginning, Middle, and End. Thus, a simple plot (cause and effect plot) must portray causality. That is one event should logically lead to another event.
The plot can be said to contain two plots.
1.The main plot
2.The sub-plot
The main Plot (Baroka and Sidi).
Plot Exposition -Baroka woos Sidi (Through Sadiku) to be his wife.
Conflict -----Sidi rejects Baroka's Offer and he cooks at trick (that he is important)
Climax -----Sidi goes to mook Baroka and she is disvirgined .
Resolution---Sidi gets married to Baroka (after he has disvirgined her).
The Sub-Plot (Lakunle and Sidi)
Plot Exposition--Lakunle woos Sidi to be his wife.
Conflict---Lakunle refuses to pay the bride price and Sidi insist on it.
Climax-----Sidi leaves Lakunle to visit Baroka and she is seduced and disvirgined.
Resolution----Sidi comes back to Lakunle to stay that she will not marry him but Baroka.www.rsugist.blogspot.com
